Sara Connolly and The English Concert led by Harry Bicket at the 2017 Gala Concert

2017 Season – Reprise

Thursday 4 May – Sitkovetsky Trio and Friends
Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking at 8.00pm

Gary Hoffman, one of the world’s great cellists was joined by the revered international violinist So-Ock Kim, violist Philip Dukes and the hugely talented Sitkovetsky Trio, to provide a stunning night of music making.

  • Debussy – Sonata for cello and piano in D minor
  • Ravel – Piano Trio
  • Schubert – String Quintet

Saturday 6 May – Piano Extravaganza
St Catherine’s School, Bramley at 7.30pm

Two world class pianists and two Steinways – what could beat that!
Shanghai-born Wu Qian and the Ukrainian star Sasha Grynyuk delivered an exceptional and contrasting programme of music for four hands and two pianos in this splendid state-of-the-art music auditorium.

These Lincoln Centre Chamber Music prize winners were perfect exponents of
arguably Schubert’s most important work, written in 1828 for the student
he loved.  Barber’s light-hearted dances also contain musical reminiscences whilst bold thrills and trills reflected Russian brilliance in the Arensky and Rachmaninov Suites.

  • Schubert – Fantasie in F minor
  • Barber – Souvenirs Ballet Suite
  • Arensky – Suite No. 2
  • Rachmaninov – Suite No. 2

Sunday 7 May – The Gala Concert
St Teresa’s School, Effingham at 5.00pm

The Gala Concert was an all-Handel programme performed
by one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, The English Concert, with
opera superstar and Handel specialist Sarah Connolly.

Surrey Hills International Music Festival is a Registered Charity No. 1171264
