2025 Miles for Music Challenge – FAQs

Registration

Is registration free?
Yes, registration is free.

Where do I register?
Please complete the online registration form here to indicate your registration. Then, you must sign up through the JustGiving campaign page here. You may need to create a JustGiving account as part of this process.

My family member/friend wants to join. How can they do that?
Brilliant! After registering here, they can follow the link here to create their JustGiving page.

When will I get my t-shirt?
After registration, we will let you know if you are the recipient of a free high-quality Miles for Music cotton t-shirt for registering early. If not, they are available to buy for £20. You will be invited to select your t-shirt size during the registration process.

Is there a deadline to register?
Registrations will remain open until midnight on Friday, 28 February. Please register as soon as possible to avoid missing out!

Are there any age requirements for taking part in the challenge?
No, there is no minimum or maximum age, but we want people to feel comfortable and safe. If you are under 18, you will need permission from a parent or guardian to participate.

Donations

Can I donate to my page?
Yes, we recommend that! Lead by example and ask your friends and family to do the same!

What must my friends and family do to donate to my fundraiser?
Share your JustGiving page with your friends and family for them to make a donation. You will find links on your page.

Can one person donate more than once?
Yes, no limits exist on how many donations one can make.

Do donors have to wait to donate until I have completed the challenge?
Not at all! They can donate at any time, starting when you launch your JustGiving page.

How much do I have to fundraise?
The JustGiving pages are automatically set up with a target amount of £150. However, any support you can offer goes a long way towards helping the Festival, so feel free to exceed the target!

My page still has no donations. How do I make people donate?
Try sharing your fundraising page with all your friends, family and local community, and post about your challenge daily on social media. You could also donate to your page to show your support and share why the cause is important to you. Either way, you spread awareness about the Surrey Hills International Music Festival.

My friend is in a different country and wants to donate. Is that possible?
Yes, absolutely. If they would prefer, they can donate directly to SHIMF on our website here. Please ask them to reference your name and ‘Miles for Music’ so we can add it to your sponsorship total.

I have collected money offline; how can I send these donations?
You can donate the amount to your fundraising page online if you have the cash. Alternatively, you can donate through the SHIMF website here.

About the fundraising page

About this challenge

How do I track my progress?
You can download and print a tracker sheet here to measure your progress. If you already have a fitness tracker (Strava, etc.),could use that or add a step counter app to your phone (You may find that one is installed already!).

Can I start early or finish later?
We ask for the challenge to be completed in March, but we understand that other responsibilities can get in the way. However, we would like to publish the total amount raised in early April, so please try to complete it by Sunday, 6 April.

Can I do more than 100 miles?
If you feel you can do more than 100 miles, absolutely!

Do I have to walk/run every day in March?
No, you are free to complete the miles in whichever way suits you during the month.

What if I fail to complete the challenge?
We would love to see everyone complete the challenge, but please don’t force yourself if you cannot. Just do what you can.

Do I have to provide proof of completion?
We completely trust you! However, sharing updates on your fundraising page to keep your supporters informed about your progress with the challenge is a fantastic idea.

What if I have any more questions about this challenge?
If you have more questions, email Tracy Lees, Festival Manager, at hello@shimf.co.uk.
