Surrey Hills Young Composer Competition 2026

We are delighted to announce the 3rd Surrey Hills Young Composer Competition

FIRST PRIZE £400

SECOND PRIZE £200

THIRD PRIZE £100

Plus runners-up prizes of £50

Winning compositions will be performed in the Surrey Hills International Music Festival, May 2026.

For 2026, in addition to specially composed works, entrants may submit a composition already written for other competitions or for coursework*.

Submitted works can be for one or any combination of the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, cello, string quartet, clarinet, oboe. (e.g. piano solo or violin and piano, string trio, or any appropriate chamber ensemble). Submissions should be between 2.5 – 5 minutes long.

Entrants must be 18 or under at the closing date of Friday, 16 January 2026, and living/studying in the historic county of Surrey.

International jury to include Wu Qian and Stephen Goss.
